  Penarwel                                    BALLINACLASH, RATHDRUM, WICKLOW

 

Penarwel offers peaceful privacy for garden and nature lovers, in grounds of one and a half acres on the Avonbeg River surrounded by mature trees and shrubs.

There are three good sized double bedrooms (one en suite) in the newly refurbished house, all on one level. The large sitting room and the open plan kitchen / dining room have floor to ceiling windows overlooking the garden.

Minimum rental period three nights.

No children under 12 please (except by prior agreement) due to steep river bank and fast flowing river.

Penarwel can accommodate up to six people and is available for rent throughout the year.

Rental includes linen, towels, electricity, heating, hot water and logs for the wood burning stove and of course WiFi.

No pets please.

Located just outside the village of Ballinaclash Penarwel is an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area - Glenmalure is a few minutes’ drive and you are in the heart of the Wicklow Mountains – the historic and beautiful Glendalough is also close by as are the world famous gardens at Mount Usher. The Avonbeg flows past Penarwel and through the village before it joins the Avonmore a few kilometers south at the famous Meeting of the Waters where there is a bar with an outside terrace overlooking the two rivers.

A few kilometers south of the Meetings is the village of Avoca - where the TV drama Ballykissangel was filmed and also home to the world famous Avoca Woolen Mill where you can tour the weaving mill to see the material for the throws, rugs and scarves being made and also visit the fabulous shop and café. More fabulous Avoca shops and cafés can be found to the north at Mount Usher Gardens in Ashford and at Kilmacanogue, both just off the N11.

BrookLodge & Macreddin Village are only 8km from the house where you will find a number of wonderful eateries including The Strawberry Tree, Ireland’s first certified Organic restaurant, La Taverna Armento, a Southern Italian style bistro and Actons Country Pub & Orchard Café as well as the Macreddin Golf Course, designed by European Ryder Cup Captain Paul McGinley.
